Structural Multiplex Data format

Description:

This is the tutorial for the formatting of your structural multiplex data into BRAPH 2 format. In order to use BRAPH 2 via Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) and not command line, prepare your data in XLS/XLSX.

  • Prepare the data in XLS/XLSX

You need one folder per each group of subjects containing one file per each layer with the structure data in the first sheet and data of covariates in the second sheet (optional). The second sheet for covariates is just needed in the file for the first layer (ST_MP1.xlsx in each group). See the directories tree and the specific recommended naming of the files in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Directories tree of structural multiplex data containing 2 layers.

The XLS/XLSX file consists of the following columns (Sheet 1):

Subject ID (column 1), Subject LABEL (column 2), Subject NOTES (column 3), and

Brain Regions (column 4 to end; one brain region value per column). The first row contains the headers and in each subsequent row the values for each subject (Figure 2).

The covariates, if desired, must be on the second Sheet of the same XLS/XLSX file, just for the first layer. Sheet 2 consists of the following columns:

Subject ID (column 1), Subject COVARIATE 1 (column 2), and Subject COVARIATE N (column 3).

The first row contains the headers and in each subsequent row the values for each subject. When adding sex covariates one has to write “Female” or “Male” as value (Figure 2).
