Functional Multiplex Data format

Description:

This is the tutorial for the formatting of your functional multiplex data into BRAPH 2 format. In order to use BRAPH 2 via Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) and not command line, prepare your data in XLS/XLSX.

  • Prepare the data in XLS/XLSX

You need one folder per each subject containing one file per each layer with the time series data. All the subjects’ folders need to be inside a folder for the group, and to add covariates you should create an xlsx file inside the main group folder (optional). See the directories tree in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Directories tree of functional multiplex data containing 3 layers.

All the subjects’ folders must be in the same group folder; also, no other files should be in the folder. Inside each subject’s folder, there should be a file for each layer containing a table with each row corresponding to a time series and each column to a brain region (Figure 2).

The XLS/XLSX file containing the covariates must be inside the same group directory

and consists of the following columns:

Subject ID (column 1), Subject COVARIATE 1 (column 2), and Subject COVARIATE N (column 3).

The first row contains the headers and each subsequent row the values for each subject. When adding sex covariates one has to write “Female” or “Male” as value (Figure 3).
